Brendon Enjoying The Ride
HM Racing crew chief Brendon Telfer couldn’t be happier with his driver Jason Johnson and the results that the team have achieved over the open weeks of 2010.
“It’s been unbelievable” he said “the results have come as a team effort, from the top all the way down and it’s a great achievement for us to be where we are running at the moment.”
The modest hard worker is enjoying his time with his American counterpart and you can here how happy he is in his voice when talking about his time with Johnson. “I suppose it makes it easier when you are both on the same page, but it helps when we have been able to spend so much time together. Spending time in the USA since April during our off season was a bonus so we now know how we like things to be. We communicate well too which is a big bonus and it makes the transition easy when he get down here to Australia.”
The team has been working hard travelling across this wide brown land racing up and down the east coast, and the results have been coming their way. They are proud of the achievement in securing Johnson his second Speedweek crown and also the good run at TPCR for the Scott Darley 50G show as well “Extremely happy is the best way to describe the Speedweek win. The two wins plus another two podiums over the five nights showed how good Jason is and it certainly gave us some momentum heading in to the 50g show at PCR” Telfer said.
In probably one of the biggest and best fields seen in Australia this summer Johnson took on the best the USA and Australia had to offer and to finish fourth in that field was nothing to be ashamed of. “Donny is a bit of a freak” laughed Telfer “but we had a good shot at a top three that night but it wasn’t to be. We had a few dramas with the car midway through the race so to end up where we did was still a great result.”
Johnson currently sits in sixth for the PWWSS season and as a team, HM Racing currently sits in fifth in car owner points, thanks to the efforts of Victorian Matthew Reed who subbed for the team in the opening round. A top five for Johnson and a fourth for HM Racing is not out of the question if things can continue as they are at the moment and the good results keep coming.
Telfer understands that you can’t rest on your laurels, the hard work still has to be done to continue on with the success that they have already experienced. He will be there once again leading the team in to battle this weekend at TPCR, ably assisted by Alan, Rosie, the GT family and Ryan to make sure that nothing is left chance to secure another win for the HM racing #47
